This Privacy Policy describes how Stack ("Stack," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses information in connection with your use of the Stack task management application and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Policy.
Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information when you use the Service:
- Account information: your name and email address, provided through Google Sign-In, together with your account status and role.
- Content you create: the tasks, notes, tags, links, lanes, and settings you create in the Service.
- Integration data: if you choose to connect a third-party service such as GitHub or Asana, the access credentials you provide and the items synced from that service.
- Usage information: limited operational data, such as the time you last accessed the Service, and a session cookie used to keep you signed in.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve the Service; to authenticate you and secure your account; to synchronize data from integrations you enable; and to provide the sharing features you choose to use. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising or to train machine-learning models.
How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers: we use Google for authentication and DigitalOcean for hosting and database services, which process information on our behalf to operate the Service.
- Integrations you enable: if you connect GitHub or Asana, we exchange information with those services as necessary to provide the integration.
- Other users: content you choose to share is visible to the users you share it with.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose information if we believe it is required by applicable law or valid legal process.
Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account remains active. When you delete your account, we delete your associated data from the Service.
Security
We implement reasonable measures designed to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and storage of authentication tokens in hashed form. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights and Choices
You may access, edit, or delete your tasks at any time. From the Settings page, you may export your data in JSON format and delete your account and all associated data. Deletion is permanent.
Cookies
We use a single session cookie that is necessary to keep you signed in. We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies.
Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated Policy on this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after any changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
